Andreas Bindhammer has been a well known name in the international climbing scene for many years now. As the first German to climb a 9A+ (USA 5.15a, UIAA 11+) he repeated `La Rambla´ in spring 2007. Meanwhile his impressive tick list includes more than ten routes graded 9A (5.14d) and about 20 with 8C+ (5.14c), amongst these are first ascents of international importance such as `KinematiX´, one of the first routes acknowledged worldwide as a 9A (5.14d) and which has become an extreme classic route in modern sport climbing.
For his outstanding climbs he was the first German climber to be nominated for the Rock-Legends-Award 2007, the `Oscar´ in climbing sports.
By September of that same year international specialist magazines had published altogether 52 pages filled with editorial reports and pictures of Andreas. This vast media presence turns him into one of the most valuable partners for sponsoring on the European Market.
2008 he worked out two first ascents `St. Anger´ and `Hades´, both graded 9A (5.14d). By the end of this successful year he repeated `PuntX´, 9A/9A+ (5.14d /5.15a), and `Big Hammer´, 9A (5.14d), but also sent boulder problems rated up to Fb 8b+ and completed the quick repetition of the extreme multi pitch `Hotel Supramonte´ on Sardinia.
Andreas sets another milestone in his career as a sportsman in fall 2009 by repeating `La Novena Enmienda´, 9A+ (5.15a). In 2011 he succeeds in his home area Allgäu with ‘X-Hale’ 9A/A+ – his hardest first ascent. With ‘Juturna’ 9A in 2015 he frees an unclimbed project in Tyrol, followed by ‘Papichulo’ 9A+ at Oliana/Spain in spring 2016. His third repetition of a route at this difficulty level.
But not only could Andreas prove his extraordinary talent on rock, he also stood the test in rock climbing competitions: Andreas achieves third place during the World Cup Event 1999, so far the best record of all German climbers. After winning his first German Championship title 1995, over the years the acting Champion repeatedly carries off prizes in World Cup and Rock Master Events. After his active career the international route setter and qualified climbing coach (Level B) participates in national and international events, now backstage.
Andreas was not only successful with his company MasterRange Equipment, he is also closely connected with the climbing sport. He received great acknowledgement for his commitment as a designer of artificial climbing gyms and as associate of the well-known Italian fabricant of climbing walls SintROC. He planned some of the most modern and exciting artificial climbing surfaces in Europe.
2010 he initiates his latest project with the corporate name eXXpozed: a meanwhile well established, international orientated online shop for outdoor sports and fashion.
These are only the key data of an almost two decade lasting, incomparable climber’s career which so far has no end in sight.
